- Utter lack of money
- Constant pressure to preform
- Squelching of personal life and free time
- Mini panic attacks experienced on a daily basis
- Fear of failure
- Overwhelming worry of disappointing those that have put potentially misguided faith in my abilities as an academic.
- My extremely inappropriate way in which I handle stress...stay in bed and hope it goes away - yes I know this never works but some days getting out of bed is the hardest thing I do.
- General nausea
- I am not living in the middle of nowhere working at a job with limited potential for advancement
- Higher paying fulfilling job (potentially)
I have too many balls in the air. Too many balls means balls on floor not balls in the air.
I'd like to add to the pro list..
ReplyDelete-the fulfillment of a graduate education
-how you will learn the discipline and time management to take on any project in the future
-experience (priceless!)
And you are smart enough, even though you may not always feel that way.
Have you talked to your faculty advisor, or the prof you are studying under? Maybe they have some suggestions on how to deal with all the pressure you are feeling. It is totally normal to feel too much pressure in grad school - your in GRAD SCHOOL! And you will succeed - but you can't do it alone! Talk to someone who can help you manage your time and reassure you that you are brilliant!
I Love you!
I agree with Mari.
ReplyDeleteYou only live once. Take that risk!
I'm absolutely sure you are smart enough.
ReplyDeleteI have a problem with dedication. I love school, but lose motivation about a week in. You sound like you have the strength!
